POMONA >> Residents of the Phillips Ranch neighborhood were able to raise $745 last week to help offset the rehabilitation costs of Ghost, a stray dog that has worked his way into the hearts of area neighbors.

Ghost is a black and white Corgi-cattle dog mix who earlier this year was spotted in the community, but catching him proved to be a tricky task.

It took more than three and a half weeks for resident Shafali Grewal to catch him with the help of her father and a friend who runs a rescue in Chino Hills.

Neighbors spotted him in different locations and shortly before he was finally captured he made his way onto the 60 Freeway and across the east- and westbound lanes.

After he was caught, Ghost was found to require intensive rehabilitation to overcome his intense fear of leashes and to overcome “feral tendencies,” Grewal said.

Residents are trying to raise a total of $9,000 to cover Ghost’s rehabilitation which he is undergoing at a facility in Sacramento.

Those interested in making a donation for Ghost’s bills can do so by making a donation online at youcaring.com/ghostieboy4dfr or by sending a check to 4Dogs Farm Rescue, which is working with Grewal to raise money for Ghost.

Checks can be made out to 4Dogs Farm Rescue, with Ghost written on the memo line, and mailed to 4Dogs Farm Rescue, 80 Cabrillo Hwy N, STE Q #229, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019.
